West Bengal stands at number one in the list of the top states in India based on vegetable production. It is the largest manufacturer of fresh vegetables in India. The vegetables grown in larger quantities here are Cabbage, Cucurbits, Brinjal, Tomato and Cauliflower. Its production of vegetables is estimated at 26354.61 (in ‘000 Metric Tons (MT)).

2. Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh produces overall 23575.61 (in ‘000 MT)quantity of vegetables. Some of the vegetables it produces are Okra, Bitter Gourd, Brinjal, Potatoes and Green Peas. It ranks number 2 among the top 10 Largest vegetable producing States of India.

3. Bihar

Bihar is estimated at 14467.15 (in ‘000 MT)in terms of production of vegetables. Some of the vegetables produced by Bihar alone are Onion, Brinjal, Cauliflower and Potato. It ranks third in the top states in India based on vegetable production.

4. Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh contributes 3.20% to the total agricultural produce of the country. Its vegetable production is estimated at 14315.41 (in ‘000 MT), according to the agricultural census bureau of India. The export of vegetables includes Green Peas, Okra, Cauliflower, Brinjal, Onion, Potato and Tomato.

5. Gujarat

Gujarat stands fifth in the list of the 10 Largest vegetable producing States of India. The vegetable production is recorded at approximately 11543.29 (in ‘000 MT). Gujarat not only produces Onions, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Okra and Brinjals, but also produces Garlic and Cucurbits in abundance.

6. Odisha

Odisha produces Coriander Leaves, Green Chillies, Ivy Gourds, Pointed Gourds along with Tomatoes and Potatoes, in general. The estimated total vegetable production of Odisha is 9425.13 (in ‘000 MT).

7. Karnataka

Karnataka is very famous for Green Beans, Ridge Gourd, Snake Gourd, Beetroot, Mint Leaves, Elephant Yam, Sweet Potato, Raw Plantain, Potato, Pumpkin, Fenugreek Leaves and Radish. The total estimated production stands at 8564.77 (in ‘000 MT).

8. Maharashtra

One of the top 10 vegetable producing states in Indiais Maharashtra. It contributes near about 5% to the total production of Brinjal in the country. The total estimated production of vegetables in Maharashtra is 8136.26 (in ‘000 MT). It is well-known for the production of Onion, Brinjal and Okra.

9. Andhra Pradesh

With the total estimated vegetable production at 6445.60 (in ‘000 MT), Andhra Pradesh contributes overall 5% to the total agricultural produce of India. Some of the vegetables grown in abundance here are Onion, Tomato and Okra.

10. Chattisgarh

Chattisgarh is very famous for its Potatoes. The total estimated vegetable production is at 5739.51 (in ‘000 MT). Okra, Tomato, Cauliflower, Cabbage and Brinjal are top in its vegetable production list.
