1. Sikkim:

Sikkim is highly known for being the least populated state in India. The population in number has been 607,688. Out of this number, only 75% of the population belong to rural area and the rest live in urban.

2. Mizoram:

Mizoram is on the second position in the list of least populated states in India. The state’s total area is 21,081 square hectares and the population is 1,091,014 in numbers. About 95% of the population belong to tribal people.

3. Arunachal Pradesh:

AP is a beautiful state known for ancient structures, spiritual shrines, religious places, and other things as well. The total area of the state is 83,743 square hectares and 1,382,611 numbers of people cover the area.

4. Goa:

Goa is one destination known for beaches, nightclubs, destination weddings, and beautiful sceneries. 68% of its total population belong to urban area. The total population in numbers has been recorded to 1,457,723 as of 2019.

5. Nagaland:

Nagaland is a beautiful state with the total population of 1,980,602 scattered over the area of 16,579 square kms. The state is situated on the gorgeous mountains, valleys, and stunning nature.

6. Manipur:

Manipur is a prominent state also known as the producer of jewels. It ranks on the sixth in the list of top states in India based on least populated. The total population is of 2,721,756 in the total area of 22,327 square kilometres.

7. Meghalaya:

Meghalaya is always raining and is known to be one of the least populated in India. The total area of scattered over 22,429 square kilometres with a total population of 2,964,007. 80% of the total population of Meghalaya reside in rural areas and the rest are in urban areas.

8. Tripura:

Tripura is a hilly state that is bordered by Bangladesh. The overall population as of last census reports is 3,671,032 scattered over 10,486 square kilometres. 73% of the population of Tripura belong to rural areas and 27% of people belong to urban areas.

9. Himachal Pradesh:

Himachal Pradesh is the hub of mountains, religious temples, and other tourist attractions. The total population of the state as per the last census report was recorded to be 6,864,602 over 55,673 square kilometres.

10. Uttarakhand:

Uttarakhand is recognized as the land of gods. The state consists of 11 districts with a total population of 10,116,752. The rural population cover 69% of its total population and the 31% reside in urban areas. With this state, we end with the top states in India based on least populated.
