1. Gujarat:

Gujarat is the largest producer of groundnuts in India. Approximately, 2892 thousand tonnes of groundnut is produced and shared by Gujarat on an annual basis. The major areas are; Jamnagar, Gir, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Porbandar.

2. Rajasthan:

Rajasthan stands on the second position with a total groundnut produce of 1041.1 thousand tonnes every year. The state even cherished an increased productivity by 29.9 thousand tonnes in the recent years. Areas that specialize in groundnut production in Rajasthan are, Jaipur, Kota, Dungarpur, Jaipur, Banswara and some more.

3. Tamil Nadu:

Tamil Nadu enjoys being the third largest producer of groundnut in India. The states produced 894.9 thousand tonnes of groundnuts every year.  Peanut is one of the major crops produced in Tamil Nadu. The land is suitable for cultivation due to proper irrigation systems and rainy climate.

4. Andhra Pradesh:

Andhra Pradesh produces 788 thousand tonnes of peanuts annually. Thus, it is enjoying the fourth position in the ratings of top states in India based on groundnut production. Some major areas that produce groundnuts in AP are, Krishna-Godavari delta region, Anantapur, Kurnool, Chittoor, etc.

5. Karnataka:

Karnataka’s total contribution in groundnut production is 381.4 thousand tonnes approx. per annum. The state enjoys the fifth position in India’s total groundnut produce.

6. Madhya Pradesh:

Madhya Pradesh has managed to produce 312 thousand tonnes of peanuts yearly as of now. The production keeps increasing and decreasing with few thousand tonnes every year.

7. Maharashtra:

Maharashtra too enjoys a great importance in groundnut production. Every year, they produce about 278.8 thousand tonnes of groundnuts in Maharashtra. The climate and soil is suitable for peanut cultivation.

8. West Bengal:

West Bengal is happy producing annually 199.2 thousand tonnes of groundnuts every year. The soil is best for peanut production and thus, the state ranks on the eighth position in India’s top states in India based on groundnut production.

9. Uttar Pradesh:

Uttar Pradesh produces groundnuts in special varieties such as; Chitra, Prakash, Amber, and Chandra. Every variety is produced in quintals for instance; Chitra is a special groundnut with a produce of 20 quintals per hectare, Chandra with 30 quintals of peanuts per hectare and so on

10. Orissa:

Orissa stands tenth yet, enjoys an amazing importance in peanut production in India. Groundnuts are produced in good amount in Orissa due to its pleasant rainfall.
